Evaluating the Contribution of Uncertainty Management to a Fusion System Report Title By its very nature, fusion requires managing uncertainty. While uncertainty management is built into many standard low-level fusion algorithms, and the importance of uncertainty management is widely recognized at all levels of the JDL hierarchy, there is less commonality of approaches to uncertainty management for high-level fusion. Evaluation of the contribution of uncertainty management to a fusion system is distinct from, although related to, evaluating the fusion system as a whole. The evaluation should consider the purpose for which fusion is being performed, and measure the contribution of uncertainty management to this purpose. The concept of expected value of sample information from decision theory provides a conceptual framework for thinking about the role of uncertainty management in fusion systems. Generalized Aggregate Uncertainty Measure 2 for Uncertainty Evaluation of a Dezert-Smarandache Theory based Localization Problem

In this paper, Generalized Aggregated Uncertainty measure 2 (GAU2), as a newuncertainty measure, is considered to evaluate uncertainty in a localization problem in which cameras’images are used. The theory that is applied to a hierarchical structure for a decision making to combinecameras’ images is Dezert-Smarandache theory. To evaluate decisions, an analysis of uncertainty isexecuted at every...

A novel risk-based analysis for the production system under epistemic uncertainty

Risk analysis of production system, while the actual and appropriate data is not available, will cause wrong system parameters prediction and wrong decision making. In uncertainty condition, there are no appropriate measures for decision making. In epistemic uncertainty, we are confronted by the lack of data. Therefore, in calculating the system risk, we encounter vagueness that we have to use ...

Designing a New Model for Evaluating the Maintenance System

The previous studies about the maintenance systems were dealt with defining the evaluation criteria, grouping them, and using different techniques for evaluating. The main problem is that maintenance subsystems and the relationship between and within them in order to a reliable evaluation have never been identified before. The contribution of this study is realizing the four maintenance su...
